As an beginner i found a lot of use full information and thought others could benefit from it as well.

Different models for different Applications.
Ranging from my preferred OpenPilot to Mikrokopter and smaller Gauix models, we are all one family.

 

 

OpenPilot was started at the beginning of 2010 and is a serious use platform aimed at civilian and research purposes, a emphasis has been placed on making the platform especially suitable for aerial photography and aerial video applications.

               

Mikrokopter are a German based company who designed the Mikrokopter in 2006.

  • flight-time: up to 36 minutes with small payload. If you don't believe it, click here

  • max. payload: 0,8-1,0kg (in the Video I used 1,3kg as payload for demonstration)
  • weight: 1200g (including Lipo; without Camera)

                Open Pilot Revolution.
The OpenPilot Revolution board, also called ‘Revo’, is a new breed of Autopilot using the STM32F4 Micro-controller. This is important as it contains a hardware floating point unit (FPU), which is a huge advancement for hobby-class autopilots. Of course, OpenPilot has been 32bit since day one, and the FPU is another step up the performance ladder.
The Revolution is an autopilot for multirotors, helicopters and fixed wings. It is a full 10DOF with magnetometer, gyroscopic, accelerometer and pressure sensors.    MORE INFO HERE

X468 Brushless Gimbal

 

The two Mikes are working on the prototype for the brushless gimbal – Their gimbal will work with a range of cameras from the GoPro (All versions and in the case or not) to the Nex series from Sony. Biggest challenge to date has been finding motor windings that work for our application.
